Save the paper and find the words

Keep a receipt beside your project notes or a whiteboard beside the meeting it belongs to. The scanner captures pages, corrects perspective, and saves a multipage document in your notebook.

Scan into a note

Use the camera to capture one page or several. Review the crop, rotation, and page order before saving. Add a title and a short description while the context is fresh. The scan stays attached to the note as a PDF.

You can also bring in an existing PDF or image from Files or Photos. Camera access is requested when you use the scanner. Selecting an existing image does not require access to your entire photo library.

Recognize text on the device

Memobound builds a searchable text index from supported scans and images on the device. Search can find a name or reference number without sending the scan to a recognition service.

Recognition is imperfect. Handwriting, small print, low contrast, unusual layouts, and unsupported languages can produce mistakes. Keep the original scan and verify important numbers against it. Recognized text is a finding aid, not a replacement for the document.

Search downloaded documents

PDFs with a text layer can be indexed directly. Image-only PDFs need text recognition. A file that has not downloaded from iCloud is not yet fully searchable, and the app shows pending indexing work.
