Your notes are documents in Files

Choose where a notebook lives when you create it. Memobound opens and saves documents through Apple’s standard file controls. There is no Memobound sign-in and no developer-operated note sync service.

Keep a notebook on your device

Choose On My iPhone or On My iPad for local storage. Writing, reading, organizing, and searching downloaded content work without iCloud. Your device’s available space limits how much you can keep.

Local storage needs a backup. Deleting an app can remove documents in its local app folder. Copy notebooks to another location before removing the app, replacing a device, or clearing its storage. Make a separate backup.

Use iCloud Drive when you want sync

A notebook saved in iCloud Drive uses your Apple Account and storage allowance. Apple handles file transfer. Memobound does not require another account. A change reaches another device after iCloud has uploaded and downloaded it, not necessarily as soon as you finish typing.

Download the notebook and its attachments before working offline. If two devices change the same document before syncing, the conflict screen preserves both versions for review. It does not promise simultaneous editing.

A file format you can inspect

Each note is a TextBundle package containing a Markdown document and its attachments. The notebook is a folder of these documents. The app keeps a local search index that can be rebuilt from the files. That index is not your only copy of the notes.

Third-party Files providers may be used to import or export copies. Editing a notebook in place through every provider is not supported for in-place notebook editing in the beta.
