Make sure your notes work offline

The useful test is whether the note and its attachments open without a connection. Seeing a title in a list does not prove the whole document is on the device.

Choose local storage or downloaded cloud files

A Memobound notebook in On My iPhone or On My iPad stores its working files locally. An iCloud Drive notebook can also be used offline after its documents and attachments download.

In Files, Apple provides a Keep Downloaded option for eligible files. Its location and availability depend on the system version and the file state. See Apple's downloaded-file guidance.

Check the material you will need

1. Open the notebook while connected.
2. Wait for pending downloads to finish.
3. Open the PDFs, photos, and recordings you will rely on.
4. Let scan and transcript indexing finish if you need to search that content.
5. Turn on Airplane Mode and reopen the essential notes and attachments.

If a document asks to download, return online and finish that step. Repeat the check on each device you plan to carry.

Save a copy of web material

A URL is an address, not the page itself. Save a supported article copy or PDF while you have a connection. Embedded video, live maps, and interactive tools may still need their original website.

Know what changes while disconnected

Local edits save on the device. iCloud transfers them after connectivity returns. Avoid editing the same document on two devices before their changes have synced. If a conflict appears, keep both versions until you have reviewed them.

Make a backup before travel or a long period offline. Local access protects against a missing connection, not a lost device.
