Choose where your notes live
Local storage and cloud sync solve different problems. Start with where you want the working documents, then decide how they reach other devices and how you will recover them.
A local notebook
In Memobound, choose On My iPhone or On My iPad to keep the working notebook on that device. You can write, organize, and search its downloaded contents without a Memobound account.
A local notebook still needs a backup. Your device backup settings may include the app's documents. Deleting the app or losing the device can remove the local copy. Do not treat the word local as a promise that no backup service ever receives the files.
An iCloud Drive notebook
Choose iCloud Drive if you want Apple to transfer the files between your devices. It uses your Apple Account and iCloud storage. Memobound does not add its own account or note-storage service.
Files must download before they can be used offline. Uploads, available storage, and changes on another device can affect when you see the latest version. See Apple's explanation of Files locations.
Sync and backup
Sync keeps working copies aligned, including deletions. A backup is a separate copy you can return to after a mistake. Keep a dated archive outside the active notebook folder and test that its notes and attachments open.

Privacy is another decision
App lock protects entry to Memobound. It does not make ordinary exported documents unreadable in other apps. Password-encrypted documents have different sharing and recovery behavior. Review the protection of the file and its storage location separately.
