Give every note a place

Use folders for where a note belongs and tags for what it is about. Memobound’s organization tools work with the same documents you see in Files.

Start with a small set of folders

Keep an Inbox for new captures, a few folders for active projects, and an Archive for finished work. Nested folders support courses, clients, and longer projects. Pin the notes you open most often and sort by title, creation date, or last edit.

Moving a note changes its location. Adding a tag gives it another way to be found without copying the document. Rename, move, and tag several notes together when clearing an inbox.

See a collection without moving files

Saved searches become smart collections. A collection might show every note tagged research, every scan added this month, or notes with unfinished tasks. The original documents remain in their folders.

Archive removes finished material from the everyday view while keeping it searchable. Trash and recovery are separate from Archive. Review the recovery behavior of your storage location before deleting documents.

The note identifier remains stable when you rename or move a document within a notebook. Memobound updates its internal references during those changes. Moving files in another app can require a rescan, and copying a note between notebooks is not the same as keeping one shared document.

A weekly inbox review is often enough. Add structure when a real collection needs it, rather than building a taxonomy before your first note.

Try a simple folder system and link related notes.
